Use a shorter hair and use a bait band - make your own from no. 8 pole elastic and score around the piece of meat to give a firmer hold. Not my idea, Steve Stayner's - works well for him.

My method is to take a paper clip or some wire and a pair of needle nosed pliers and shape a spring, tie this to you hair and twist it into the meat, it stays put and is very good. Mark
